Dwight D Eisenhower Columbia University Signature

From 1948 until 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower was Columbia University’s 13th President, and took a leave of absence in December of 1950 to become the first supreme commander of NATO forces. This diploma, signed by Eisenhower, is from 1950, just a few months before his leave of absence.

Dr. Ray Cook practiced medicine in Wichita, Kansas for more than 38 years. He was born in the South, developing an affinity for history and the Civil War. Over his life-time, Dr. Cook gathered a collection of presidential documents, books, and other works on paper related to his interest in history.
